This week, Lars von Trier selected Nate Hill to submit a 90 minute film for his video project Gesamt, and the routine controversy has followed. Responsible for such films as Melancholia and Antichrist, von Trier has selected a handful of delightful options for Nate Hill to choose from with just one problem. There is no Nate Hill on the list of: James Joyce's Ulysses, August Strindberg's play The Father, improvisations by composer Cesar Franck, a Nazi meetinghouse designed by Hitler's architect Albert Speer, Gauguin's Where do we come from? Who are we? Where are we going?, and, Sammy Davis Jr. "How am I, Nate Hill, expected to make art about someone other than myself? I, Nate Hill, need to bring attention to me, Nate Hill!", stated Nate Hill. We're guessing that if Nate Hill has anything to do with it, this film should come out just fine.
