<<<< [Good Afternoon, this is Ben Macaulay, Art Fag City Art News Blogger, with a Breaking News Update on what Nate Hill is doing right now. Here's the news. He is running low on food. Not much food in the apartment. He says he needs to go to the grocery store, but needs to find out about the hours. Are they holiday hours? Do they close at 5? He doesn't know. I asked him for a grocery list and he didn't have one but started naming off things he could buy. Here is what I remember. He said cereal. He said he likes a cereal with almonds but he can't remember the name, but that it makes the milk taste like almond milk. He says they just got some Boar's Head jerk chicken deli meat at the deli that he has been favoring. About the ketchup, he spoke at length about this. He does not like organic ketchup. Heinz makes a ketchup now that has Tabasco in it. He says he wants that. He made me promise that I would mention this. I thought he was going to go. It looked like he was headed out the door just to get a few of things off his list at the store, and I was following him, but now he has sat down and is telling me why he doesn't like the grocery store. I didn't ask, but he doesn't want to use a shopping cart in a New York City because of the narrow aisles, so he uses the basket, but the basket gets too full and hard to carry around the grocery store. This is frustrating to him. Finding things in the store in a fashion that makes sense for his list is something he also doesn't like. He said, that the list is never going to be in order of aisles in the store, so he will inevitably have to double back for something on the list. He says this is very annoying. Even though he only lives half a block from the grocery store and gets at the most 4 bags of groceries, he complained about having to walk up and down the stairs from his apartment to the store. He lives here in East Harlem, so most of the people who work at the grocery store are spanish speakers, so he can feel like an outsider in his own neighborhood grocery store. He has found one check out girl who seems to find his nonsense charming and he tries to check out with her when he line is not too long. Her name is Gabby. He says she is nice. He sees her in the street and she is always smiling really wide which makes him think that she does not think he is insane.
